II Timothy 4:8: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Paul had come to the end of his earthly life. He was confident that he had run his earthly race of living his life and toiling for God. He says that he had finished his race and was sure of being a winner. He was looking forward for the crown of righteousness which God, who is the Righteous Judge, would give to everyone on the day of judgment.
How many of us are preparing ourselves to receive this crown of righteousness? God has it ready for those who are willing to run their race here on earth the way that God wants us to run. He wants us to work for Him in any capacity or serve Him in any capacity. The gift or the award that God is going to give us is this crown of righteousness. It is called so not because of our righteousness but because of God’s righteousness. He will give it because He is righteous. We are made righteous by His righteousness. For this reason, He wants us to run our race and be on our tracks, rather do what He has told us to do without interfering in other’s lives/tracks.
There is just a short time left for the coming of Christ. How prepared are we? It is time we cross examine our lives and make the necessary corrections wherever needed. Are we running our race or simply being a commentator, commenting about other runners? Are you really serious in finishing your race and winning?
