The fragrance of God’s knowledge

2 Corinthians 2:14
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

Paul expresses his thanks to God for the victory in Troas through divinely blessed opportunity to spread the Gospel of Christ. Like Paul, we too are the instruments in God’s hand to proclaim His greatness.

2Corinthians 2:14 ESV mentions ” … leads us in triumphal procession …”. What is triumphal procession? In Paul’s days, Romans would have triumphal processions. This was a parade in which a victorious Roman general would march his soldiers and capture enemies through the streets in triumph.

Similarly, according to Paul we too are led by God in triumphal procession. He is making use of us and our lives as the ones who are been captured from the clutches of the enemy and are now available to accomplish His amazing purpose He has for each one of us.

In the Roman procession, incense was burned in celebration of the defeat of their enemies. In that way the onlookers will both see and smell the evidence of a captured foe as it passed by. Therefore, we are used to spreading the fragrance of His knowledge everywhere we go (Acts 1:8).

We are not our own. We are bought with a price that could be paid only by the one who gave himself. Let our redemption story be proclaimed everywhere we go, through our life and words (1 Peter 3:15). Thank you Jesus for this blessed privilege.

Blessed Day Ahead.
