Psalm 84:11: For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
The Lord God is a sun and shield meaning to guide His people in the light and to give them direction. Shield means to protect them from all harm and from all the fiery darts of the devil. Grace means God’s unmerited favor and friendship, and His glory which comes as honor in our lives are given to those who walk upright. He will not withhold any good thing from those who obey His commands and do His will.
The Lord will guide us in the journey on the face of the earth. Just like how the sun shines bright and dispels the darkness away, in the same way the Lord God will shine upon our lives. There will be no place for the powers of darkness to ever rule our life. He will protect us like a shield and keep us safe from the wiles of the devil. Hold up your shield of faith and put out every arrows of the devil that comes against you. Also, the Lord will never withhold your blessing. There might be delays but they are not denials. Sometimes delays are good because something better is on your way. Whatever you need on the earth will be fulfilled by God according to His plan that He has for you.
To inherit God’s promises and to obtain His blessings, we need to walk upright before God. Being upright is to be sincere and honest with God. We just cannot expect God to be a robot which works according to the wishes of man. God will be God and He will bless you according to what He wishes for you. Let Him be the shield and sun over our lives.
