The offensive weapon

Matthew 4:11:  Then the devil leaveth him and behold angels came and ministered unto him.

The devil did his best to tempt Jesus to worship him and for Jesus to jump off the temple and to turn the stones into bread.  He wanted Jesus to become an unworthy sacrifice by making Him obey him, but Jesus defeated the devil through the word of God.  He left him for some time and angels ministered to Him.

The devil is a liar and a thief and a destroyer from the beginning.  He used the same tricks that he used in the garden of Eden, i.e., the lust of the eyes, the pride of life, and the lust of the flesh.  He tempted Jesus with these three temptations and even now he comes to many people with these kinds of temptations in various forms.  The Bible says to resist the devil and that he would flee away from us.  Never make a home for the devil, instead defeat him with the sword of the Spirit, that is, the word of God.  Be equipped with God’s word which is one of our offensive weapon against the enemy.  Jesus never bowed down to the devil.  Why should we?

Overcome the enemy with prayer and by meditating on God’s word.  Let us try and memorize the scriptures so that they would become handy against every temptation that the devil brings against us to weaken us.  Be strong in the Lord and lead a victorious life in Christ by putting on the whole armour of God.  Remember, your weapon is the word of God.
