“I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.” Psalms 16:8

This psalm is set at the backdrop of the desperate situation faced in the life of God’s servant– enemies are at pursuit, his own people have turned against him, he is facing constant backlash, rejection, and insults.

This is a cry for God’s righteous justice and action, coming from a humble and innocent heart.

David had an unwavering confidence in the righteous character of His God– however, this attitude or response wasn’t a forever or natural response to him, it came from His hard built character.

David had encountered many struggles and situations in life and had witnessed  the faithfulness and righteousness of God again and again through all of it. Thus David knew very well that ‘He will gaze upon the beauty of the Lord always’, and ‘He will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.’ Thus, The words of David’s confidence, assurance, and hope are echoed in this psalm; “You will show me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of Joy.”

Beloved, can God’s faithfulness and righteous acts be counted or measured? It is relentless & abundant! His love and grace is forever true and remains perfect. Today as your hungry heart seeks answers, may God’s righteous character be your comfort and the same confidence, assurance, and hope remain in you too.
