Psalm‬ ‭119‬:‭2‬ – “Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart,”

Every living human being seeks something of value that will profit them. Babies seek their mothers for food and comfort. Students seek good results in their exams. Graduates seek employment. Employees seek promotions and better paying jobs. The unmarried seek suitable partners. Married couples long to have children. We seek better vehicles, our own houses and a fashionable wardrobe, just so we’d be considered at par with our peers.

While some of us who believe in Jesus do seek Him, it’s only with a fragmented part of our hearts. The rest of our thoughts lie on our own hopes, dreams and things we hope to own or accomplish. The Psalmist says that those who seek God with their whole hearts are blessed. This is something Jesus emphasized too in Matthew 6:33 – “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

God who created us knows what we truly need. Instead of spending our time and energy yearning after things our hearts desire, we need to start seeking Jesus with our whole hearts. Irrespective of how long we’ve known Jesus, there is always room for us to grow more intimate in our relationship with Him. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” When we start seeking God with our entire being, we will experience a deeper level of intimacy with Him. Then, we will not have to worry about anything else, because we have the assurance that God will perfect everything that concerns us.
