Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. Psalm 34:9
Many are our needs and wants, but those who wait on the Lord find contentment, satisfaction, and joy, which only the presence and knowledge of the Lord can bring. Today’s devotion is a passage from the Psalm of David, who was promised the throne but had to undergo much affliction and hardship. Though King David’s battles were diverse and many, one thing remained constant – his love and devotion for God Almighty. His obedience and hope in God was unwavering. He cried many tears to God, but it all ended with him walking with a hopeful heart and a head lifted high by the mercies of God. Today, you and I may not have to battle an army or deal with the politics of governing a kingdom. However, the politics in the workplace and undeservingly being targeted or left out feel similar to what David experienced in his time. You may lack the money in your pocket or the opportunity or the relationship today. Let not your heart be heavy. David was the chosen king, yet there were days when he lacked food. There were days when he lacked a roof over his head. Yet, his faith and knowledge of his Provider were enough for him to say, “Blessed is the one, who takes refuge in the Lord”.
What is your lack today? Is your promotion stuck? Is your womb empty? Are marriage proposals getting frustrating? Or, are you waiting for a healing? Let today’s verse, “Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him”, be an encouragement and a direction to you. When you place your trust on Him, be assured that your lack will turn into blessings.
