“The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.”

— Psalm 147:11 NIV

Psalm 147:11 NIV

The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Read that again. God delights! Not tolerates or endures. The Creator of galaxies delights when you trust Him. Imagine that!

Who makes God smile? Not the strongest, the fastest, or the most impressive. Verse 10 says He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse. Instead, He delights in people who revere Him and rest their hope in His love.

Think of David. He was a young shepherd with a sling. Goliath towered over him. The army trembled. David trusted God’s faithfulness instead. He ran toward the giant. God did not delight in David’s sling. God delighted in David’s trust.

A child once learned to ride a bicycle. Her father walked beside her, one hand lightly steadying the seat. She wobbled and worried, but kept looking back to make sure he was there. When she finally pedalled on her own, he smiled – not because she had done it perfectly, but because she trusted him enough to keep going. That is you.

Your hope does not need to be loud. It does not need to be perfect. It simply rests in God’s unfailing love. Even when you wobble, you can trust that He is with you – and that trust brings Him joy.

Fear of the Lord means deep reverence. It means trusting God more than your circumstances. It means choosing Him first.

Think over this today: God delights in your trust, not in perfect performance. When you wobble, keep your eyes on Him and trust Him to guide you. Choose trust over worry and walk with joy. Heaven is cheering you on!
