Psalms 121:5 NIV
The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand.
How often have you experienced a sudden intervention that saved you from an accident or an unexpected course correction that led you to success? The world may call it a coincidence or luck. In reality, it is the omnipresent God watching over us. We are truly secure under His watch.
There will never be a moment in our lifetime when we won’t need God’s untiring watch over us. His eyes go to and fro throughout the earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those who are His (2 Chronicles 16: 9). He is our shade when we pass through dry seasons and fiery trials. His presence not only comforts us but also gives us the strength to endure the heat.
God’s care is not dependent on who we are or where we come from. God saw the pain of an Egyptian slave named Hagar and comforted her. He is still the same El-Roi, the God who sees (Genesis 16:13). But it’s not just that… did you know that our God also sings? Yes, He rejoices over us with singing (Zephaniah 3:17).
The truth that God is with us and will never leave us becomes experiential when we believe that He is our shade. Even when He seems silent, His presence is enough. In times of turmoil, we may not be able to see His hand, but we can trust His heart.
How comforting it is to know that the Lover of your soul, who is all-powerful and all-seeing, keeps His eyes on you. Your God neither slumbers nor sleeps (Psalm 121:4). He never gets distracted or bored. He even knows the number of hairs on your head.
Beloved, you are safe and secure. You are under God’s loving watch.
