Unknown Path, Known God

Job 23:10

He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.

Job had lost almost everything. His children, his wealth, and even his health were gone in a matter of days. His friends sat beside him, insisting that his suffering must be the result of some hidden sin, only to add to the misery. And God, the one voice Job longed to hear the most, seemed silent.

Job searched the heavens and could not find Him, yet he held fast to a quiet confidence that God knew the road he walked. Furthermore, that road would lead him through the testing and bring him out refined as gold to the other side.

Even when we cannot trace the path ahead, when the road curves into a darkness we never chose, we are not lost to God. He sees every step we take, and He walks beside us, never leaving us alone.

The testing, however long it lasts, will eventually come to an end. And that end will not be ashes, but gold. The Refiner never leaves us unattended; we are not forgotten in the flame. We are being watched over with patient and unhurried love. The One who allowed us to go through the heat will bring us out shining like gold.

So, when the heat rises and the answers stay hidden, let us stand firm, holding on to the truth that we are in God’s safe hands. We are being shaped into something that will shine for His glory.
