Up Close with God

O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down. Psalm 139:1-3

People often wish for someone to understand or comprehend them and to be by their side in tough times. But why do we avoid the One who is always by our sides and the only One who knows our innermost thoughts? We are a completely open book to our God, yet we think otherwise when we pray. We try to tell how much we are hurting, suffering or disappointed when God already knows it all. God can predict decades ahead of every moment in our lives. However, we don’t fully trust Him with our plans. We come to God when we are desperate and ignore Him when all is well.

We have nothing to lose by being transparent with God. Instead, we gain an everlasting relationship with Him. God wants to walk with us as He did with Enoch(Gen 5:24). Enoch had a family to provide for and work to do, yet he chose intimacy with God over all else. The choice is really ours to select the best for our lives.

Learn to be transparent with God and surrender your plans, desires and sins at His feet. God is a good God, and He knows the best for you. God’s love is steadfast over our lives; His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22). There is none worthy than our God to get close with and to approach anytime we need. Every day, feel free to be personal and up close with God and let His Word come alive in you.
