Waiting Hearts, Faithful God

Psalm 33:20

Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.

No one likes to wait. Waiting requires real effort; it calls for strength and discipline. Placing our hope in people and waiting for results often ends in unfulfilled expectations and betrayed trust.

In contrast, when we wait on God, He restores us and reveals His strength through our weakness. Yet waiting on the Lord can be intensely challenging and may even feel impossible, because we want life to unfold according to our schedule.

God does not always work according to our timeline. We often seek instant answers, while the Lord acts with perfect calm and precision. He does not owe us immediate answers, but guarantees a response in our time of need. Waiting on the Lord means aligning ourselves in faith for what He is about to accomplish. We keep our eyes fixed on Him, dwelling on His eternal, unseen attributes. While we wait, we live with bold expectancy, trusting that God will reveal His power in our lives.

The Lord helps us in times of trouble. When all other help fails, He steps in, ready and timely in His aid. He remains with us in our struggles, providing comfort and guidance. God stands as our shield, protecting us at all times from the enemy’s hidden darts. He encircles us with His love and favour and preserves us by His mighty power.

This psalm calls us to praise God wholeheartedly because He is the Sovereign Creator and unrivaled, Supreme Ruler of all. Though He stands in unmatched greatness, He has chosen to love us with steadfast love. During this season of Lent, let’s remember that true security does not come from human strength, but from anchoring our trust in God’s everlasting Word. Therefore, let’s praise God for His unwavering love toward all who trust and hope in Him.
