NO SHAME

Romans 6:22 – “Now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.”

We all came from different walks of life when we chose to follow Jesus; it is not uncommon that people we knew before noticed a change in our behavior. Some of us had to leave behind some friends that just did not fit into our choice lifestyle once we gave our hearts to our Lord and Savior.

Our change of lifestyle also impacted us to leave behind things that used to harm us, which were consequences of the predominant sinful desires we once had, which unfortunately brought us shame and guilt. And shame and guilt are associated with sin. Those are not things we are proud of or things we like to talk about, and the results of sin “do not deserve to be called fruit.”(Matthew Henry).

But praise God for His mercy and goodness because the day we accepted Jesus into our lives, we were set free from this bondage of sin, shame, guilt, and room was made for the fruit of the Spirit to begin growing in our lives. We now have made room for the fruit of holiness and the fruit of the Spirit which is “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”(Galatians 5:22-23).

Praise God, for we are no longer slaves to sin, but willingly we have become slaves of God, and we will together harvest everlasting life. Amen!
