What do you thirst for?

Isaiah‬ ‭41:17-18‬ – “When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst, I the Lord will answer them; I the God of Israel will not forsake them. I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.”

Thirst is a physical state all of us have experienced. Whether it is the desire to have a cool drink on a hot day, or the insatiable thirst after a plate of spicy biriyani, we have felt that desperate need for water. Our bodies scream for the thirst to be quenched, and our minds are spinning fast, looking for ways to get a drink of cool water. We do not rest until our parched throats have been watered.

When was the last time you experienced that kind of thirst in your spirit? Does your soul thirst for more of the Lord? God will move mountains and water deserts to satisfy the thirst of His children… But what are you thirsting for?

Thirst for the Lord – not just for the blessings He can give you, but for who He is. Whatever you need is found in Jesus. Be desperate for more of His presence in your life. Be fervent to accomplish His purpose in and through your life. Fill the emptiness in your heart with more of His Word. Allow His Spirit to renew your thoughts and keep them aligned with His will. When you thirst for the Lord, He will fill you and give you more than you could have ever asked or even imagined.
