When There Seems To Be No Way

Psalm 63:3-4  Because Your loving kindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.

When the Israelites wanted to enter the city of Jericho, the Lord unleashed a mighty miracle! But, He didn’t do it without testing the faith of His people.

He commanded them to March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets.”  Joshua 6:3-4

Why did God command them to carry rams’ horns?

It was simply because the Israelties recognised the ram’s horn from the time of Abraham.

Remember, when the Lord tested Abraham’s faith by asking Him to sacrifice his son? As painful as it must have been, Abraham was ready to drop the axe on his son. But, the Lord stopped him and provided a ram for the sacrifice instead.

The Israelites connected with that act of faith when they saw the rams’ horns. It strengthened their own faith, which was vital in bringing down the walls of Jericho.

But, faith in itself wasn’t enough to empower a miracle of such magnitude. There was a need for unbridled praise!

And so the Lord said, When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.” – Joshua 6:6

It was the loud shout of praise that caused the impenetrable walls of Jericho to come crashing down!

Yes, Praise in sync with faith is a formidable weapon. No wall can stop us from entering the promises of God, when we understand and practice this principle.

This Sunday, shout out praises to God, in faith, because every wall that is preventing you from reaching God’s promises will be destroyed, in the Lord Jesus’ Name. AMEN!
