Psalm 119:165 – “Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing causes them to stumble.”
Can you imagine what it would be like if there were no traffic rules at all; if everyone drove their vehicles according to their own liking and if pedestrians joined in the same set? Not only there would be chaos, there would be a lot of confusion, accidents, injuries, and a lot of distress everywhere.
How wonderful for us that our God is a God of order, not of disorder; and a God of peace, not a God of distress. (1 Corinthians 14:33). He knows that in order for us to have peace and order, we all need to obey His law, first given to us through Moses.
The Lord wants us to obey and follow His laws, commandments and teachings because when we do we enjoy the benefits of it: we are promised to have “peace like a river, and righteousness like waves of the sea” (Isaiah 48:18). We are also promised to have “prolonged life and prosperity.” (Proverbs 3:2).
When we follow God’s law, nothing can cause us to stumble, to fall, because “His word is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path.” (Psalm 119:105).
The Lord loves when we obey, listen, follow and pay attention to His word, His teaching, when we keep His commandments, because it only leads us to: goodness, life, long life, health, prosperity, wisdom, understanding, and peace.
So, love God’s law, and enjoy the Lord’s great peace!
