Wisdom for a Listening Heart

Proverbs 22:17 Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge.

We live in a world which is filled with noise and distractions. Amidst all of this, the God of wisdom calls unto us through proverbs and encourages us to incline our ears and hear the words of the wise and apply our heart to His knowledge.

Wisdom is not merely factual knowledge. It is more about understanding and aligning ourselves with God’s truth, furthermore, allowing it to guide our thoughts, actions and decisions.

To incline our ears means to be attentive to the voice of God. It requires willingness and humility to learn from the ones who have experienced wisdom before us.

As we hear the words of the wise, be it through the scripture, a spiritual mentor, or wise teachings, we are allowing ourselves to receive help and guidance throughout the journey of our life on Earth.

Now, let us not only seek wisdom but also consecutively apply it to our lives. Let us not only learn and understand but also grow and be transformed through His wisdom. When we do so, we can move through life with greater clarity, comfort and purpose.

With the dawn of a new day, let us seek and apply God’s truth to our daily lives; actively seeking with a thirst for wisdom because it says in James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Let us also apply it so that we live our day-to-day lives purposefully and with discernment.
