Ezekiel 36:26: Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
Ezekiel is talking about the new man or a person of renewed heart that Paul talks about in Ephesians 4. God promises here that he will give a new heart and a new spirit after removing the heart of stone. God wants us to have a new heart and a renewed spirit within ourselves.
Our hearts are so full of sin and disobedience. Sometimes we are hard and rash with people. We judge others too soon, etc. We love less and expect more. Some people’s heart has hardly any emotions or feelings for others. It is God’s intention that our hearts be filled with love and compassion. He wants us to be considerate and kind. He wants us also to be filled with new purposes and new resolutions, new desires. God will break the heart that is as hard as a stone, which is insensible and not flexible and stubborn always. Paul writes to the Ephesians and to the Corinthians that they need to put on the new man or the new nature once they are in Christ. In Christ, the spirit is renewed and made alive to have a proper alignment with the Spirit of God.
Yield yourselves to God. Ask God to take away the heart of stone and renew yourself with a fresh heart. Ask God to fill your heart with the things of God and to be like Him in word and deed. Let us make our heart the dwelling place of the Spirit of God.
