Matthew 5:14 – “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Why did Thomas Alva Edison invent the light bulb? The answer is simple – in order to see in the dark. It is common knowledge that light chases away darkness and makes everything visible and clear.
In the verse above, our Lord Jesus Christ uses the term “light of the world” while referring to His disciples. Light symbolises life, positivity, knowledge, and wisdom. Light enthuses clarity and brings comfort. Our Lord Jesus Christ said in John 8:12, “I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows me will never see darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Every believer carries the light of the Lord. As believers, we have been instructed by our Lord Jesus Christ to spread light amongst people and be witnesses of Christ. We are to do good works, and not just make a difference but BE the difference in this world.
The second part of the verse says, “A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Our Lord Jesus Christ is saying that if a city is built on an elevated area, it will be visible even from afar. Our Lord Jesus Christ wants us to spread the good news and extend His kingdom here on earth by building His church in such a way that it cannot be ignored. It is such a blessing and an honour to transmit our Lord’s light into the world and rescue people from darkness by leading them on the right path through the Glorious Light of our Lord Jesus Christ.
😇Blessed today. Thank you Jesus. You are the light. Amen!!
