For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:30
A yoke is a wooden beam usually used between a pair of oxen or other animals to pull together a load. A yoke is not an instrument of bondage; on the contrary, a well-designed yoke lightens the load on the animal and maximizes the capacity of efficiency and productiveness.
Each of us has our share of the load to bear in life. Some burdens seem unbearable and make daily life stressful, hopeless, and unenjoyable. Our Lord Jesus Christ understands our struggles and therefore offers to help us by inviting us to be yoked with Him. If we accept His offer, He will share our load.
When we are yoked with Christ, He becomes our teammate for life. He is right beside us, walking with us through the journey of life. With our Lord to help us, we are guaranteed to move forward in the right direction. Even though we may face difficult situations, our assurance is that our help is walking with us.
The reward for being yoked with the Lord Jesus Christ is that we will receive ‘rest for our soul.’ When we find rest, we can accomplish the purpose of our life joyfully.
