He will carry you

Psalms 28:9
“Save Your people, And bless Your inheritance; Shepherd them also, And bear them up forever.“

Psalms 28 was written by David. He begins the psalms with a petition for himself and closes with a petition for the nation who God chose to have a covenant with.

The “Save your people” – phrase not only talks about day-to-day saving from all evil and wickedness, but it also cries out to the saving grace of God. This God accomplished by sending his only one son as the ransom for the sins of His people.

“bless Your inheritance” – Psalmist praying to bless the people whom God chose as His inheritance. Then it was just Jews, today it is all who believe in Christ as their savior. God blesses us with all spiritual blessing, with grace for here and glory for the hereafter. We are His peculiar possession, He would never let us go.

He is a great Shepherd who takes care of his sheep by leading them to green pastures and by nourishing them with His word and ordinance. He fills us with the revelation of who He is and knowledge and understanding of His ways. This is what “Shepherd them also” means.

“And bear them up forever” – As Shepherd protects his sheep from dangers by bearing them up, Psalmist is asking God to bear His people so, forever. Our God is the great Shepherd who lifts us above our enemies. He carries us in His arms and bosom and causes us to reign with Christ for eternity.

We are the precious possession of our God, He will surely carry us through this life here and for eternity. Let confidence and faith in God grow stronger, so we know that he is more than enough for us.
