Asking, Seeking and Knocking-PURPOSEFULLY!

Matthew 7:7

Ask, and it will be given to you; Seek, and you will find; Knock, and it will be opened to you.

Charles Spurgeon beautifully wrote that faith asks, hope seeks and love knocks. It gives us perspective on what Jesus was saying. When you ask, don’t ask like a beggar. First and foremost, know your identity. Be confident of who you are in the Kingdom of God and how you should come before your Heavenly Father. Remember 1 John 5:14- This is the confidence we have in approaching God, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. It’s your job to ask, but also remember that it is the Lord’s will that we need to honor. You need to trust that He will withhold no good thing from you but will fulfil it AT THE RIGHT TIME. Trust His timing.

Hope means not giving up. When we seek, whether it is answers to doubts, direction in life, understanding complicated circumstances or confirmations in the waiting, we need to hold on. The Lord encourages us to continually seek and promises that we WILL FIND. When you search for anything in Christ, the answers and solutions will also be in Christ. No point looking for contentment, joy or peace in what the world offers. For it cannot fully satisfy. Seek purposefully, knowing that Christ Jesus is faithful to reveal.

We knock when the door is closed or we need to enter or ask permission. Knocking means we want to get in. We don’t knock like little children who wait for someone to open the door and then run away. Rather we knock because we expect the Lord to open closed doors. To enter and fellowship with Him. We want to spend time speaking, sharing and simply enjoying His company. We knock in anticipation. And when God opens doors, it’s like entering His dimensions-His Kingdom, His will, His purposes, His gifts and His reward.

So beloved, may your asking, seeking and knocking be purposeful and fruitful!!!
