Hebrews 10:23

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

When Jesus walked the face of the earth, His actions and miracles created an unprecedented ripple effect that no one had ever witnessed before. People began to flock to Him, seeking deliverance from the inexpressible sufferings they were enduring. Word spread rapidly. People were hopeful and expectant as they saw the Messiah move in supernatural ways.

After more than three years of Jesus’ ministry, the final event approached – the crucifixion – the main purpose for which He had come. During the intense pain that Jesus was subjected to, particularly right before the crucifixion and during the nailing on the cross, many lost hope. They gave up on Jesus being their deliverer. His silence shook their faith and left them feeling afraid and disappointed.

In contrast, Hebrews 10:23 advises us to hold onto our confession of hope without wavering. Confessing hope plays a pivotal role in helping us stay hopeful in a despairing situation. When we feel the silence of God, it is important to rely on the promises He has made and wait for them to come to pass. Trusting in the faithfulness of God helps us reap good fruit while patiently waiting on Him.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, when the pace of progress in our lives feels slower than it should, and we feel burdened by pressure, help us cast our worries on You. Help us understand that You are a faithful God who will never let us down. Give us humility and understanding to confess our hope in Your ability. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
