Deuteronomy 33:27

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

The book of Deuteronomy contains a series of speeches given by Moses to the Israelites as they prepared to enter the Promised Land. In Deuteronomy 33:27, Moses reminds God’s people of the eternal protection, strength, and faithfulness of the Lord.

Life today often feels like a constant race. Deadlines pile up, relationships demand attention, financial pressures increase, and the endless stream of news and information can leave us feeling overwhelmed. At times, it seems as though we are carrying the weight of everything on our own shoulders.

However, this beautiful verse reminds us of a powerful truth: God is in control. He is our refuge and our everlasting support. A refuge is a place of safety and shelter, a home we can run to when the storms of life hit. When anxiety rises, plans fall apart, or uncertainty clouds the future, we can rest in the assurance that our Heavenly Father is sovereign over all things.

The phrase “underneath are the everlasting arms” paints a comforting picture of a loving parent holding a child who is afraid of falling. God’s arms are beneath us even when we cannot see them. They support us when our strength runs out, catch us when we stumble, and carry us through seasons that seem impossible to endure.

The world teaches us to depend on our abilities, achievements, and resources. God invites us to trust in Him instead. His strength never fails, His support is everlasting, and He will never let us go.

Today, whatever burden you are carrying, remember that you are not standing alone. The eternal God is your refuge, and His everlasting arms are holding you secure.
