Psalm 30:2-3
“O Lord my God, I cried out to You, and You healed me. O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.”
Today’s Scripture passage contains words of praise and thanksgiving that the psalmist offers in response to God’s deliverance. He reflects on how he cried out to God and received healing. When he was down in the depths, God rescued him. Did you notice the number of personal pronouns in these verses – “I”, “me”, “my”? It is such an intimate, personal expression of praise!
So many times, we’ve experienced God leading us through a crisis. Yet, we soon forget about His deliverance and get on with our lives. These verses remind us to recollect how God rescued and restored us – they give us enough reason to praise the Lord.
When we praise God for answering our desperate cries and remember how He helped us in the past, it increases our confidence in His enduring presence and power. It enables us to depend on God for every aspect of our lives because it is His mighty hand that has led us this far.
If you are currently going through a difficult situation, take a moment to reflect on what God has done for you till now. He has saved your soul from the depths of darkness and brought you into His light. Not only does this give you a reason to praise the Lord, but it also assures you that He is more than capable of handling your current situation. Commit yourself into the care of the sovereign Lord who is worthy of all your praise.
