Romans 8:16

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.

Today’s verse speaks of a deeply personal assurance, one that doesn’t come from the world, but from the Holy Spirit within us. Apostle Paul is pointing to this inner testimony. It’s not shaped by what others say or how we feel on the surface. It’s a reminder that is much deeper and steadier, placed within us by God Himself.

Our designations, our failures, our scores, our past, our family background, our financial status, or our reputation do not define us. Not one of these determines our identity. Yet we face days when doubt creeps in. We question ourselves, our faith, and sometimes even our standing with God.

In those moments, we have to get on our knees and meditate on this truth. We may not receive a loud response. Instead, it often comes as a quiet certainty, a sense of peace deep within which reminds us that we belong to God.

When we begin to live with this understanding, everything starts to shift. The pressure to prove ourselves reduces. Fear slowly loses its grip. Moreover, we don’t have to chase anybody’s validation anymore because we already have God’s affirmation.

So today, let us just pause and listen, instead of overthinking. Somewhere in the stillness, the Holy Spirit is already speaking, gently and surely reminding us that we are His. Let us celebrate that our identity is secure in Him.
