Across the Lake

John 10:27-28  My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.

God loves us unconditionally! We can do nothing to make God love us more or less. He already loves us to the maximum. And it is this unconditional, eternal love that changes lives!

The Parable

Remember, the parable of the lost sheep?

The Good Shepherd set out to save the one lost sheep, though 99 sheep were in His presence. Did that lost sheep deserve love? From our human perspective, we may think the sheep deserved to get lost. After all, it put itself in that position by ignoring the Shepherd’s voice.

But God’s love is different!

The Application

The Lord Jesus lived out this parable when He crossed a lake and stepped into the region of the Gerasenes. The vicinity was home to a man who was possessed by many spirits. And Jesus wanted to save him!

In a nutshell, Jesus gave the man freedom from the spirits and renewed his life. Soon after, He got back into the boat and left.

Yes, Jesus crossed the vast expanse of a lake for just one man!

Then, Now & Forever…

The Lord Jesus still crosses lakes to meet with us. It may be the lake of addiction, greed, dishonesty, depression, or anxiety, among many others. But the same Jesus will cross over to rescue us because He loves us unconditionally.

Don’t wait until you are perfect to welcome Jesus. He loves you already and He’s crossing your lake to embrace you with unconditional love!
