Anointing

Isaiah 61:1:  The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek;

Jesus came to this world to bring the good news of salvation.  He was anointed by the Holy Spirit to bring the message of hope and peace to those who are lost in the world, in sin.  The meek are those who are of a humble spirit and are more of a submissive nature.  In such people, the message of hope and deliverance sinks in faster.

God’s Spirit never comes on anybody without a purpose.  He will accomplish the purpose of His coming upon an individual.  In the Old Testament times, the Holy Spirit did not dwell permanently in anyone, but whenever He came upon anyone, the purpose of His coming would be fulfilled.  The message of hope brought great deliverance and miracles upon those who eagerly desired it.  People who wanted healing were healed, people who were hungry were fed, the dead came back to life.  All this happened as a result of the anointing that was upon Jesus.  The meek believed in Jesus, they got what they wanted.  The tax collectors and the downtrodden and the immoral, all those who were humble in their spirit experienced great and mighty things from Jesus.

What are we doing with the anointing that is upon us? Are we willing to use it for God? Stir up the talents in you and use your anointing to be profitable unto God.
