Ask in Jesus’ Name

John 16:24

“Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”

When the Lord Jesus Christ said this statement to the disciples, did it mean they hadn’t ever asked Him for anything? Far from it. The Bible records the disciples asking Jesus a lot of things. But they hadn’t yet understood the power of His Name. It was only after they received the anointing of the Holy Spirit that they fully worked in that power.

When you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, you understand the depths of His love for you and His sacrifice on Your behalf. And when you live as a child of God, every prayer you make in His Name is inspired by the Holy Spirit. You get to speak freely to the King of kings and Lord of lords and ask Him for anything.

When you ask something in Jesus’ Name, you are asking in obedience to His will. You are being led to pray by the Holy Spirit, and what you’re asking for will ultimately glorify God’s Name through your life. When you pray with the knowledge that God knows what’s best for you, His answer will bring you peace – whether it’s an answer you agree with or not.
