He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.
To understand this verse, we need to focus on the personality of the Most High. Before we can ponder on this specific verse, we need to get this engrained in our minds and hearts-John 3:16 For the Lord so greatly loved and dearly prized the world, that He even gave His One and Only begotten Son, so that WHOEVER believes and trusts in Him as their Saviour, shall not perish but have eternal life. Why would the Lord send His precious Son for ALL if some were to perish anyways? Because that is NOT the heart of the Lord, His heart is that ALL men be saved and have the ability to recognize and discern the Truth.
Jesus CHOSE His disciples, does that mean all the others around Him who weren’t chosen were rejected?! Most certainly not. We are CHOSEN FOR A REASON. Each of us, to run our own races, to go through our own processes, and fulfil our own destinies. In fact, even amongst whom the Lord chose, there was a Judas! This is why the verse states that we should be holy, consecrated and set apart, blameless in His sight.
Small is the gate, and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it. Check your heart and your life, ensuring that you live for the glory of the Lord. May we not be like Judas who got swayed by the enticement of the world. May we not be like those who prophesy and cast out demons in the name of the Lord but don’t have enough time for the Lord nor space for Him in our hearts. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit of the Lord would strengthen us to consecrate ourselves, in body, soul and spirit to Him and Him alone. In Jesus’ Name!
