God’s promise of security

The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. Deuteronomy 28:7

Our life on earth is a journey full of ups and downs, excitements and disappointments. There are things we want to achieve, and there are times when things are pushed towards us by the world. It might be getting that job or college admission for which you need to work hard. Or perhaps the untimely responsibility of family because of the death of a parent. A new battle is waiting at each turn, whether out of choice or circumstances.

The people of Isreal were finally going to enter the promised land. But they had to fight for it before they could inhabit it. At that time, Moses gave them this promise of God’s love and faithfulness. Like the Israelites, we are also on a journey to our promised land; battles will come en route. But God will remain faithful. In Isaiah, God tells us, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.”

Are you passing through witchcraft, sabotage, and discouragement? God is with you. Poor health and betrayal of family and friends will never overtake you. God won’t allow your struggles to burn you, nor shall the responsibility scorch you. Today’s devotional is God’s promise of security. It is the exhibition of His love—the assurance of His protection. Whatever enemy rises against you: financial, political, or physical, God will defeat them for you.
