“When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”
When the Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, they had the Lord to guide them personally. The Lord went before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the right path, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light (Exodus 13:21). The people were divinely guided by God Himself so they didn’t lose their way.
While we don’t have pillars of cloud and fire to guide us now, we have something so much more precious – the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ promised His disciples that the Spirit of truth would guide them into all truth – declaring to them the things to come. As children of God who want to be led by His Spirit, we have the same access to His divine guidance.
If you’re confused about a decision you have to make or worried which path you have to take in your life, turn to the Lord for guidance. He will reveal His truth to you and show you the way you need to go. And until you hear from Him or sense His guidance, you don’t have to remain stuck. Keep doing the next right thing as you go, and trust that God will direct your path as you move forward.
