Colossians 3:17

“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

“Do what you love” is a phrase we often hear in the world today. But the reality is that some chores and projects really need to get done – whether we like it or not. In those instances, today’s verse comes handy.

What would it look like if we could do everything in the Name of the Lord Jesus? The Amplified version explains that this means we do it all in dependence on Him. We don’t have to rely on our own wisdom or strength to get it done. We have an Almighty God with us, who’s ready to give us what we need – to do what He’s called us to.

Whatever you are in need of today, ask the Lord for it. Whether it is the wisdom to speak the right words (Jeremiah 1:9), grace to get through the day (Hebrews 4:16), or strength to do something you’re struggling with (Isaiah 41:10), reach out to God for help. When you trust God with the tasks at hand and rely on Him to guide you through it, you will find much satisfaction in the work you do.

Take time to thank God for the work He’s given you today. Imagine the Lord Jesus Christ is a direct recipient of your work and do it for His glory. Be assured that He will help you do it all with the best of your ability and you will bring Him glory.
