Don’t expect to be served

Luke 6:31: And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

We expect good from others and want them to be nice to us always.  When we are expected to do some good thing to those around us, we hesitate, but Jesus said whatever we want others to do for us, we should do it for them.  This is true love and care that we can show as children of God.

The wanting for others to do something for us is never limited to friends alone.  Sometimes, it happens within the family too.   Either the husband or the wife would expect the other to do what he or she wants.  Won’t it be good if they bless each other by doing to the other what they want it done for themselves? Surely, God would bless such a relationship and circle of friends and family as well.  Jesus taught us to go the extra mile and not just limit ourselves in helping someone in need.  Learn to be like Jesus in all walks of life.  If you want someone to be good to you or kind, in all probability, you should take the first step of loving and being kind to that person.  God’s word says that we will reap what we sow.  If we sow good things in others’ life, we will also reap it back joyfully.

Shake yourself off all the restrictions and boundaries that you have set for yourselves around you. Do not expect to be served, instead serve like Jesus.  He washed the feet of His disciples.  He did not expect them to wash His feet. Let us do to others what we want them to do for us.
