Psalm 81:10 – “I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.”
Have you seen a parent feeding a child? Some kids open their mouths as soon as they see a spoonful of food and gladly gobble it down. But there are other little ones who purse their lips tight and stubbornly refuse to eat. It’s up to the parent to cajole and distract the child until the meal is done. If the Lord was feeding you, wouldn’t you gladly open your mouth and let Him fill it?
In Psalm 81, God recounts everything He’s done for His people. He answered their cry of distress and delivered them from slavery, but they weren’t faithful to Him. God wanted to bless them, but they wouldn’t let Him. So, He gave them over to their stubborn hearts and let them have their own way. But He still gave them an option to return back to Him and receive His grace.
God has given each of us free will. He will not force us to be obedient to Him. That’s a choice we need to make. The Lord Jesus Christ delivered us from darkness, forgave our sins and gave us hope for eternal life. But it’s up to us now to follow Him wholeheartedly. If you open your heart and let Him have His way, He will fill your life with good things (Psalm 103:5). Will you be open to receive His blessing?
Lord have your way in our lives, pardon us please for our sins, transgressions and ignorance. We humbly ask you to bless the work of our hands, the various things we do to keep life on track and above all the desire of our hearts to be witnesses of your glory in our lives. Deliver us Lord, from darkness, the clutches of the evil one and break the curses we have knowingly and unknowingly brought upon us. Please make known to us areas that we are yet to surrender and matters we have overlooked to repent over.
Abba Father, lead us to greener pastures of happiness, good health, peace and long life. In Jesus’s name.
