1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
The apostle John teaches that those who truly follow Jesus Christ will walk in the light, live in His truth, and do what is right. They openly confess their struggle with sin before God instead of hiding it.
When we deny our sin, we deceive ourselves and turn away from God’s truth. But when we sincerely confess our sins, God forgives us and cleanses us from every sin.
Jesus is the Light of the world, and His holiness shines light into the deep darkness of this sinful world. We, who live closely with God, must remain in His truth and walk in the light of His presence. To continue in that relationship, we must confess and surrender our sins.
The word ‘confess’ means to openly admit our sin before God. To bring our actions before God without concealing anything, admitting that we have spoken or acted against His will. The moment we recognise our sin, we must run to God in repentance and confession. If we try to hide it, guilt will gradually burden our hearts and steal our peace.
God desires that we walk before Him with a pure heart and a clear conscience. When we confess our sins before Him, we remove the barriers that keep us from walking in the pure light of true fellowship with our Lord Jesus.
God never turns away from His children or abandons the heart that seeks Him. When we come before Him in sincere confession, He pours out His mercy, forgives our sins, and washes away every stain of unrighteousness.
Therefore, let us turn away from darkness. Let us surrender every sin before the Lord, walking daily in the freedom, peace, and purity that He graciously gives.
