John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
In this “I Am” declaration, Jesus reminds us of the fullness of who He is, drawing together every revelation of His divine identity and mission. When it stands independently, “I Am” reveals God’s eternal independent existence, absolute sufficiency, and abiding presence.
Jesus is the only way to heaven, because He alone came from heaven. He is God incarnate and appointed by God as the Saviour. Jesus is the perfect and final sacrifice for sin. He alone defeated death eternally and received the highest exaltation from God.
When acknowledging that He is the truth, Jesus affirms that truth originates from God’s nature. He is the absolute, undeniable, eternal, and supreme truth who remains final and unquestionable. Jesus is truth personified. He is truth clothed in flesh. Jesus, the incarnate Word of God, is the source of all truth.
Jesus is life and the source of life. He came to offer His life for us and to impart abundant life to us. He who is life made a way for us to gain life through His death.
Jesus affirms that He is the only way to the Father. To accept God’s gift of salvation, we must turn to Him alone. He is the only mediator between God and man. His death has paid the full penalty for our sins. His resurrection confirms our redemption, and we stand justified.
Let us seek to intimately know Jesus as: the Way, who provides the answer to mankind’s sin; the Truth, who remedies humanity’s lack of knowledge; and the Life, who conquers human mortality and is the only pathway to heaven.
