Psalm 27:1
The Lord is my Light and my Salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
This verse is a bold declaration by King David of who God is in the midst of war and enemies. First, He is the Lord. Accepting God’s sovereign lordship over our lives through daily surrender and communion anchors us in a place of rest and boldness. Situations around us don’t affect us because the Holy Spirit leads us to declare who He is over the circumstances.
God is our Light. God has called us to preach His word and make disciples in this evil and dark world. We cannot navigate this dark and uncertain world without the light of God’s word. His word is the lamp unto our feet (Psalm 119:105). His word protects us from ourselves and from the enemy’s schemes, giving us direction, encouragement, and building us up in holy hope.
God not only saved our souls, but also provides His saving grace through acts of mercy, which we receive on a day-to-day basis as we confess our sins and receive His grace to move towards His purpose. What a beautiful God we serve! He does not condemn us, but in love and compassion, He guides us daily.
We find redeeming grace to face this life in Christ alone. His light, strength, and salvation are made available to us through the cross. We have absolutely nothing to fear. He knows our beginning and end, our failures and weaknesses, yet loves us. When we call on His name, He hears us.
Let’s seek God continually and have unshakable faith that’s anchored in who He is. Let’s not be afraid, but be reminded that He is faithful from generation to generation.
