Isaiah 54:17

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me.

Here is one of God’s precious promises of protection to His people. Does it say His servants will never experience hostile acts aimed at them? Certainly not! The promise is that nothing plotted and planned against those who serve the Lord will be successful! Yes, that is a promise you can hold on to and take courage in. Divine protection against every work of the enemy is yours.

Let’s read the next part of this scripture carefully. Does it say there will be no judgment spoken against those who serve God? It is clear that there will be unjust slander, accusations, and judgments spoken against God’s people. Yet, when required, God empowers His children with words, wisdom, and discernment to refute and counter false allegations. Romans 8:33-34 says, “Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? No one.”

These promises are the privilege of those who serve God. It is their heritage. The word “heritage” is defined as a legacy, inheritance, or birthright. This protection is part of our inheritance in Christ. Our righteousness has not earned it, for we have no righteousness of our own. But we have the righteousness of Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

According to Psalm 27:1, the Lord is our light and salvation; whom shall we fear? He is the defense of our life; whom shall we dread? So, let’s live courageously!
