2 Corinthians 6:18 (NKJV)- I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.
Born to and raised by our earthly parents, they teach us right from wrong and how to be socially acceptable. In return, we always aim to make them proud and do what is right according to them, all for love’s sake.
Here in this verse, God is calling us His children. He will be a Father to us and we will be His sons and daughters. What a promise His word holds for us! Because of His unconditional love for us, we must set our minds on following God’s plan and purpose for us with love and devotion to Him. We must leave behind worldly temptations and influences.
When God chooses us to be His children, He is choosing us to be His representatives on the earth. We must be an example for everyone around us, living by God’s word and making ourselves worthy of being called His children. Moreover, the Holy Spirit dwells in us and holds us accountable.
We have to move away from the worldly ways of sin, temptation, idol worship, and other carnal influences that would lead us away from God. Rather we must move closer to God, and His Holy Spirit will lead us away from all evil.
