Psalm 23:2 – “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”

What do you think a sheep would dream off? Possibly a green, grassy field as far as the eye can see, a quietly bubbling brook in sight, and the presence of the shepherd close by. In Psalm 23, David positioned himself as a sheep living the good life in the Good Shepherd’s care. He trusted that the Lord would not leave him in want.

Just as a shepherd provides the sheep with grass and water for sustenance, so does the Lord provide us with everything we need for our lives. A sheep doesn’t not worry or fret about where its next meal is going to come from. It just knows that the shepherd is around and he’ll take care of everything.

Do you find yourself feeling anxious about a particular situation in your life? Entrust yourself in the Lord’s care. God is good, and He will tend, guide, provide and protect you today and every day. You might have to walk through dense, dark valleys, but as long as you stay by the Lord’s side, you will make it through. Rest in God’s presence on a daily basis. Allow Him to refresh and restore your soul while you remain in close relationship with Him.
