Psalm 91:14
Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
Psalm 91 portrays the Lord as the great Protector of His people. It’s a reminder that God is always near, even in seasons of great adversity. The Lord cares for His children and watches over them. In today’s verse, God assures us that when we love Him and desire Him above all else, He will sustain and deliver us.
God promises to set on high everyone who knows His name. In ancient times, people sought higher ground for protection from their enemies. In today’s world, many things threaten our faith and pull us down spiritually. Yet we can rely on the Lord to protect us from evil influences and keep us rooted in Him.
Today’s promise is for those who know the Lord. The word “know” is translated from the Hebrew word “yada”, which means so much more than just being acquainted with someone. It signifies knowing someone intimately, not just theoretically, but through a personal relationship and lived experience.
It is one thing to learn who God is from our pastors or even from our personal Bible studies. But it’s only when we consistently cultivate a deep relationship with the Lord that we draw closer to Him and get to know Him intimately. Such a deeply personal knowledge of God will fortify our faith and keep our hearts steady even when storms arise.
Prayer: Lord, I’m so grateful for your favour and protection over my life. I desire to know You more and more. Help me seek You and prioritise You above everything else. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
