God’s Grace and Mercy

John 12:48 NKJV

“He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.”

At first glance, today’s verse seems harsh and negative, but when we see the context, we understand the compassion of Jesus that shines through these words. Jesus Christ had spent three years healing the sick, delivering the oppressed, sharing the good news of the Gospel, and drawing people closer to God. Yet, many of them still despised and rejected Him.

God, in His mercy, did not condemn sinners to die without hope. He gave us His only Son who died on our behalf and received our punishment. Now we have the hope of Heaven and eternal life. His grace forgives our sins and leads us back to Him every time we repent.

God is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love (Psalm 103:8). He wants us to accept His love for us and live with Him forever. But if we reject Him and refuse to accept His teaching, the justice of God will prevail in the last days. We don’t want to be at the receiving end of God’s wrath and vengeance on evil. So, let’s open our hearts to Jesus today, believe in Him, and be saved.

Prayer: Father, I’m so grateful for Your grace and mercy in my life. You’ve been so patient with me. Help me remain faithful to You and live joyously as a child of the Lord Most High. Amen.
