God’s Love Preserves Us!

“Love the Lord, all His faithful people! The Lord preserves those who are true to Him, but the proud He pays back in full” Psalm 31:23, NIV.

True love is proactive and seeks opportunities to show others the affection we claim to feel. God’s people are to love Him as such. Only the saints can indeed love God, the source of their holiness.

When the love of God fills our lives, we bear fruits of that love – obedience to God’s word and will. Our hearts become soft towards God so that His commands are not painful to follow but become a delight.

The promise to those who love God is supernatural preservation. God offers us fruitfulness and life. He keeps an eye on us, fights our battles, and orchestrates all the efforts made on our behalf.

This verse contains a warning for self-centred people who value themselves over God. They think about and chase their glory rather than exalting the Lord. They will experience the outcomes of their actions, and their arrogance will ruin them.

Let us, therefore, be humble and rely on and love the Lord at the same time. We can be sure that He will protect those who love Him so we can rest.

Be inspired to love the Lord and obey Him today.
