God’s Patience and Promise

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

When we wait on God – for a prayer to be answered, a promise to be fulfilled, or for a situation to change – we can easily mistake His timing for slowness. In today’s world, we’re used to getting what we want within minutes, hours, or through overnight shipping. We expect God to work on that same delivery timeline. But God’s clock is set to eternity. He focuses on salvation and the eternal transformation of hearts.

When God says “Not yet”, it doesn’t mean “Never”. We just need to trust Him. Peter reminds us that what we interpret as a delay is actually the Lord’s loving patience (long suffering). God is not procrastinating; He is intentionally giving space for repentance, mercy, and for everyone to turn back to Him. It means He is working out a much bigger, more beautiful plan behind the scenes. We can rely on God’s nature – He is faithful and never slow in fulfilling His promises.

Let us thank the Lord for His immense patience and mercy. Let’s trust His timing and understand that every delay is filled with purpose. Amen!

On this World Environment Day, let us also thank God for the beautiful earth He has given us to live in. May we remember to care for the environment – the birds, animals, and all creation – for they are precious gifts from our mighty God. Let us honor His creation by protecting and safeguarding the earth with gratitude and responsibility.
