God’s Shelter and Power

Psalm 46:1 – God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble

All around us we see disease, illness, and destruction. As we go through these troubled times this verse carries such a powerful promise from God. He is our refuge, which means, He is our shelter who we can run to in times of need, trouble, and desperation. He not only provides us refuge, but He gives us the strength to face the troubles that we run from. He is our Jehovah Rapha, our healer. Any sickness and disease cannot stand against us because our Lord is our sanctuary (“refuge”), the power within us (“strength”). He is the great “I AM”.

When we go to God for shelter and strength in times of despair, what does God do, He helps us in the “present”. He is there for us, not after a day or a week or a year but right then when we need Him.

In Deuteronomy 31:8 the Bible says that God goes before us, He is with us, and He does not leave or forsake us. Then why should we fear or be dismayed?

Psalm 91:10 holds God’s promise to us that no harm will come to us, and no plague will ever touch our house.

Everyone around us may fail us and let us down but in you Lord, we trust. You are there for us when we need. Thank you for being our strength in times of need, and our shelter in times of trouble.
