Hate Evil

Psalm 97:10 – “You who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.”

In today’s world where everything is so relative, evil has become something so ‘gray’, so undefined, it is almost becoming acceptable because we are being so slowly exposed to things that we should hate, we are becoming visually and audibly anesthetized to things and people and actions that our God hates.  One very good example is all the idolatry that surrounds us. In almost every corner there is an idol that has become part of the scenery, and we have become unaware of its presence.

We, his saints, are called to love what our God loves; and hate what our God hates. Not in a judgemental, condescending way, but with a heart filled with love and mercy, we really need to be aware and focus on everything that our God loves. He loves the sinner, but not the sin.

The more we love the LORD, the closer to Him we will become, and when we are close to Him, His love surrounds us.  He sets us on higher places, away from predators; we are protected underneath His wings.  And as a consequence of our closeness to Him, our God rescues us, saves us, and delivers us out of the hand of the wicked.

To love our God is the most important commandment.

He is a faithful God, His Word is unfailing.

He is a promise keeping God.

May the LORD help you and deliver you, may He rescue you and save you from the wicked, because you take refuge in Him.  Amen! (Psalm 37:40)
