Have You Used Your Gift Yet?

1 Peter 4:10–Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of the varied grace of God.

In the new year, many people commit to new decisions such as: ‘I will use my talents to serve God formally’, ‘I will spend more time in prayer and bible reading’, ‘I will make a conscious effort toward guarding my tongue’. The Bible says this about serving for God’s glory in Peter 4:10. We ought to:
-Be watchful in prayer (with an alert and sober mind in these times) without taking anything for granted
-Love one another deeply because it covers all sins
-Be genuinely and cheerfully hospitable without grumbling: for example, give the hungry a meal and homeless a bed
-Serve another generously, using our God-given gifts, to be faithful stewards of God’s grace. If we share words, let them be encouragement and words of God; if we help, let it be God’s hearty help.
-Minister with the ability from God.
We must serve so that God’s presence is evident through Jesus and our mighty God is praised in everything.
In short, we must follow Jesus’ lead: pray before and into everything; share God’s love; help cheerfully; serve to share God’s grace; minister to glorify God in actions and words.

Father God, thank you for our talents, treasures and time that you give us bountifully to serve others. May they come to know You and Your never-ending love. Bless and guide us in our endeavours of servitude that your name be praised. In Jesus’ name…Amen.
