For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3
How can we love GOD? The bible says that obedience is the most prominent way of loving GOD. To love GOD means to follow HIS word and the bible says that it’s not hard to obey GOD.
Well, the truth is, most of the time we find it hard to follow the word of GOD in its entirety. We all struggle in obedience, be it to our parents or spouse and GOD himself. It’s human nature to disobey and rebel against the rules. Well, then why does the bible say that obeying GOD is not burdensome? That is because we try to obey GOD with efforts from our flesh, but when we read the above chapter of 1 John 5: 4 it says, ‘For every child of GOD can obey HIM, defeating sin and evil pleasure by trusting CHRIST to help him.” yes, that is the key to overcoming our weaknesses and to love GOD with everything within us. Trusting JESUS to help us overcome and dwelling in HIS Presence, seeking help.
Our efforts are in vain when we don’t trust GOD to bring fruits for our efforts. Proverbs 3: 6 “ In all your ways submit to HIM, and HE will make your paths straight”
Just like a mother doesn’t feel her child’s tantrums a burden but a part of parenting, The hard work, and self-discipline of serving Christ is no burden to those who love HIM. And if our load starts to feel heavy, we can always trust our LORD Jesus Christ to help us bear it.
