Psalm 84:11 – “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
Our God is a giver of good gifts. He gives us good gifts, not because we deserve them but because He is good! A parent delights in giving his/her child a new gift – something the kid had been looking forward to. Parents are enthralled by their kid’s excitement on opening the package; it brings a smile to their face. God delights in giving us good gifts as well. When we receive His gifts with excitement and gratitude, it brings a smile to His face.
Today’s verse is a strong reminder that God will not withhold any good thing from you. But sometimes, what we perceive as a good thing, might not be the same as what God has in mind for us. With our limited minds, we think we know what’s best for our lives. But don’t you think God who created us from scratch might know us a bit better? He has us carved on the palm of His hands. He knows what we need and when we need it.
Do you feel God is holding back a good thing in your life? Has He promised you something that is yet to be fulfilled? Do not be discouraged. If it is good for you, God will make it happen. Until then, wait patiently on the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to help you live a righteous life.
